New primary crushing plant in Ebensee impresses

“Just switch it on and start producing!”

In spring 2026, a new GIPO B1490 primary crushing plant was commissioned at the quarry in Ebensee, Upper Austria. The plant processes approximately 600 tonnes per hour with a final particle size of 0-200 mm. Around 500,000 tonnes of limestone are extracted, crushed and delivered each year to the cement plant in Gmunden, which is part of the Rohrdorfer Group.

Department Manager Melanie Lettner and Project Manager Christian Grabner are highly satisfied with the outcome of the project. One of the key reasons is that the plant was designed by GIPO and Sales Representative Jesse Gasser specifically to meet the site’s individual requirements and all expectations of Rohrdorfer.

The plant can be arranged in three different configurations, as it is already known that its location will be relocated in a few years’ time. The system includes a large feed hopper to ensure a continuous material flow, as well as a roller grizzly that removes fine material before it enters the plant, reducing unnecessary processing. Furthermore, all electronic components, apart from motors and sensors, are safely housed inside a protected container.

The speed of project execution was another factor that impressed those involved. From the initial contact on 24 June 2024 to factory acceptance on 1 December 2025, the entire project was completed within a remarkably short timeframe. Jesse Gasser recalls: “Our goal was to have the plant delivered to the mountain site before Christmas 2025. Given the Austrian winter conditions, this was certainly a challenge, but by 18 December everything was on site.” By that date, transport of all components of the 200-tonne plant to an altitude of 730 metres had been successfully completed.

Christian Grabner summarises: “Everything went extremely well and, from our perspective, it was simply a case of switching the plant on and starting production immediately. That, together with the robust design of the entire plant, genuinely impressed both us and our colleagues.”
